What is this site?

Tenantnetwork.com is a place where New York City tenants can share information about their apartment buildings. The goal is to close the information gap between apartment seekers and apartment brokers in Manhattan. With this site we can collectively gather and share our information so that there will no longer be a reason to spend 15% of one year's rent on a broker that basically only shows you the door of an apartment building. Not to mention the fact that the Google Maps API provides a great new way to search for a place in Manhattan!

In the beginning we are limiting this to what are commonly referred to as "high-rise" buildings located in Manhattan. The reason is because these buildings have the highest concentration of people, a fairly high chance of having available apartments at any given time and fairly standardized prices. If the network grows large enough the next logical steps would be to get owners of smaller buildings involved and to expand the search to the boroughs. The end goal is to empower New York City tenants to find a new place with as little cost and hassle as possible. So are you looking for a new apartment in New York City?
